A Little About Me
These songs have grown slowly over many years, beginning when I was young a mother and continuing through many years of working alongside young children.
What began as simple melodies to help my own children soon became something much more.
As I worked with children each day, I noticed something beautiful. When I slowed down and gently sang through everyday routines, the atmosphere changed.
Children became calmer. Transitions became easier.
Ordinary moments became opportunities for connection.
Over time I realised that children often respond differently to melody than they do to spoken words alone. A simple song seems to reach them in a quieter, gentler way, helping them understand what comes next, while feeling safe, connected and included.
The songs have never been about entertainment. They’ve always been about relationships.
Whether we’re getting dressed, washing hands, packing away, waiting our turn or gathering for circle time, singing together creates moments of warmth that help children feel secure while learning the many little skills that become part of everyday life.
The melodies are intentionally simple, repetitive, and easy to learn so that children can quickly join in. Before long, they begin singing for themselves, reminding one another of routines and sharing in the rhythm of the day together.
After many years of using these songs with children and families, I’ve seen how these ordinary moments can become some of the most meaningful parts of the day. What once felt rushed or difficult becomes calmer, more joyful and deeply connected.
My hope is that these songs bring a little more ease to your everyday routines, a little more confidence to the children in your care, and many beautiful moments of connection along the way.
With warmth, Marla
