Around the Table brings together three simple songs to gently support the little moments that surround mealtime. From washing hands, to coming together for food, to waiting at the table, each song offers a familiar musical cue to help children know what is happening and what comes next.
Mealtime- This gentle melody reaches children who may be completely absorbed in their play, softly signalling to them that it’s time to transition into preparing and gathering for a meal.
Washing Hands- This song gently guides children through the simple steps of washing hands. It reminds them to use soap, rub both hands together to wash, and then rinse them clean.
Waiting at the Table- sometimes in life children are expected to stay at the meal table until others have finished and that can be challenging for them. I wrote this song to help children stay connected, relax and wait patiently with the group or family.
Marla’s Tip - Mealtimes are an important part of the daily rhythm for children - a time to come together, share food and enjoy one another’s company. Families find children much more enthusiastic about mealtimes when it’s a shared experience together. The Mealtime song can be sung as a gentle signal to let children know that it’s mealtime, Washing Hands guides them through this routine before they sit down to eat, and Waiting at the Table helps find patience when others are a bit slower to finish their meal.
