I created this song after noticing that some children were reluctant to put on their shoes, and especially their hats, before going outside. I wondered whether singing about getting ready might help children enjoy the routine instead of resisting it. It did far more than that.

Marla’s Tip - This song is particularly helpful when a child is reluctant to put on their shoes or hat. If the weather is hot, wet or cold, I simply begin singing, and I’m continually surprised by how quickly a child can change their mind and begin joining in.
